"Janai is scared thread and 'purnima' is full moon"

Janai purnima is observed in month of bhadra. Janai purnima is a scared thread festival. Especially brahmins and  chettris perform there annual change of janai and who celebrate this festival put a scared thread around there waist.

The janai makes a man enter a mature hood and makes him in command of his own body as there is a certain mantra which is needed to be spoken every day at morning. The janai is replaced when it is gotten dirty or when any one broke a religious rule.
